Root Canal Therapy: Similar to a Dental Filling
Sometimes a tooth can become so inflamed or infected from decay, faulty crowns or cracks that it requires root canal therapy. During a root canal, the inflamed pulp of your tooth is removed and your tooth’s insides are cleaned and disinfected before being sealed up with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. Once sealed, your tooth will be restored with either a crown or a filling for extra protection. Depending upon the amount of infection involved, you may have to take medicine before work can be done to your mouth.
